From dosing screw feeders to syringe fill and seal machines

Filling machine applications are very demanding regardless of the task at hand (dosing, weighing, filling or packaging). Customers want flexibility and modular design, but there are major differences between the various pharmaceutical products, and there is no single machine that can handle them all. The Optima Group has assembled a team of packaging specialists to handle this complexity.

Customer requirements for packaging machines vary significantly in the pharmaceutical industry. The Optima Group together with its subsidiaries and partner companies offers a broad selection of products to meet the diverse needs of the industry. Optima designed the Pharmaline SL50 monoblock machine specifically to handle powder (especially binary powder) in pharmaceutical applications. The machine has a self-optimizing weighing system to capture the tare weight, which is then used to determine the gross and net weight. A variety of functions can be added to the monoblock machine, for example control units or sealing systems.

Maximum output is 50 containers/min. The design is cGMP compliant. The controller meets GAMP4 guidelines and conforms to 21 CFR Part 11. Another machine is the SD1-P dosing screw feeder, which is used to handle small portions between 100 mg and 200 g. It offers product-specific, adjustable sealing systems and can be used in conjunction with weighing equipment to optimize filling volumes. The SD2 dosing screw feeder delivers flexibility and high throughput. The SDEco provides high precision dosing in a robust design. The DF filling scale is designed for high precision filling of free-flowing, pourable bulk goods. Various models are available which cover the range between 100 g and 15,000 g. Maximum throughput on the quad head version is 120 weighing operations/minute.
Dependable syringe fill seal machines
The fully automatic inova H3-10 syringe fill seal machine handles disposable syringes from all leading manufacturers in trays. The machines have 5 or 10 stations and can handle sizes between 0.2 and 29 ml. Maximum output is 10,500 or 22,500 syringes/hour. The linear machine is suitable for use in an isolator and has a very slim, compact profile. The newly developed inova VVM crimping machine for vials and bottles handles packaging units up to 54 mm in diameter. Eight and 10 station versions are available with throughputs between 12,000 and 24,000 packaging units/hour.
100 percent process control
The Contiline from Kugler features an advanced design. It is the first seal fill machine on the market which performs 100 process control on liquid and pasty pharmaceutical and cosmetic products. Up to 8 filling stations can handle up to 240 packaging units/minute. Because the machine has servo control and a modular design, it is very adaptable to a wide range of products. Other innovative features include a servo motor on every screw-on spindle and torque measurement as the cap is screwed onto the bottle. A system to handle nose spray with a screw-on cap will be on display at interpack. The machine will have laminar flow above the protective enclosure. The new Linocount fills tablets into bottles. It provides 100% in-process control, an electronic tablet counter and broken tablet monitoring.

This monoblock machine was specially designed to handle pharmaceutical powder, especially binary powder mixtures.
