Saudi Arabia's national oil giant Saudi Aramco extends the bidding phase for the construction of its planned 400,000 bpd refinery at Jizan, Saudi Arabia, by one month. The billion–dollar–project is expected to expand the company's downstream activities and to raise Saudi Arabia's domestic refining output to 3.5 million bpd by 2016.
Khobar/Saudi Arabia – Bidders can now hand in their offers until mid-September 2012 after voices were raised to extend the deadline by some contractors asked for an extension to calculate their engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) packages.
Bidding for a second refinery project in Yanbu closes one September 1st. The Saudi Aramco Lubricating Oil Refining (Luberef) will be jointly owned and operated by Saudi Aramco (70% shares) and Saudi Jadwa Industrial Investment (the remmaining 30 percent).
