Precision bore tubings by Duran feature highly resistant borosilicate glass tubes with tolerances within the micrometer (μm) range. The used borosilicate glass is both chemical and physical resistant.
According to Duran, it tolerates temperatures up to 500 °C and has a high thermal shock resistance of about 100 K temperature difference. Precision bore tubings are manufactured and calibrated by heating glass tubes and vacuum heat shrinking them onto precision mandrels. This method allows producing a defined inside diameter with very small tolerances. These tubes can be applied in the chemical industry as well as for mechanical and plant engineering. Precision calibrated glass tubes like these can be used for capillary viscometry, as tubes for High Pressure Liquid Chromatography uses or as metering unit in filling machines for corrosive liquids.
